Walking the Camino is like reading a story that escapes the bounds of traditional tourism. It’s about connecting with and experiencing communities in an intimate, slow-paced way. As you walk, you begin to recognize names and stories that stay with you. In Cartago, they know who Julio from the Caribbean is; in San José, they’ve heard of Rita from Turrialba.
The true magic of the Camino lies in the human connections that form along the route, in each step taken from lodge to lodge, from one story to another, from family to family. Our role as guides and stewards of this thread is to share and weave these experiences into every tour. And for the solitary walker, the challenge is to build these connections on their own—because without them, the real soul of Costa Rica may be missed.
These connections will continue to grow with every new hiker who embarks on the Camino. Over the years, new services and people will join this journey, and personally, I hope to always remain an integral part of this process. So let’s get walking!
